About

BIO: SHORT and sweet

Jeff Michaels is a musician, songwriter, and author who recently embarked on his busiest job yet: fatherhood. His previous books include Please Hug Me – I’ve Been Delayed: The Only Guide You’ll Ever Need to Survive the Not-so-Friendly Skies, a featured title at Hudson News and Pacific Gateway airport retailers, NPR Weekend Edition, and a “Top 12 book to Chill Out To” by MORE Magazine for Women. Michaels is currently working on his Christmas memoir, born of the need to create traditions for his son around a holiday he previously despised.

BIO: take your time…

In the early 2000s Michaels was a touring musician, opening for artists like Nellie Furtado, Sister Hazel, and Dennis Quaid (yes, the actor) when he suddenly lost his position with his band. Undeterred, Michaels formed his own band, and rose to national success in his own right, landing songs on several major TV shows, including MTV’s The Real World, Teen Mom, and The T.O. show on VH1. He has appeared on numerous morning radio and TV shows, including CNN Radio, NPR, KFOG 104.5FM in San Francisco, and Good Morning San Diego. This period of his life lent value to his writing career, providing fodder for travel articles and planting the seed for his first book, Please Hug Me – I’ve Been Delayed: The Only Guide You’ll Ever Need to Survive the Not-so-Friendly Skies (Greenleaf Book Group).

Michaels’s debut title was inspired by the desire to offer advice, and an understanding of the frustrations of traveling and touring Jeff was so familiar with. Please Hug Me—I’ve Been Delayed became a hit with airport-dwellers nationwide and was a featured title at Hudson News and Pacific Gateway airport retailers and voted a “Top 12 book to Chill Out To” by MORE Magazine for Women. The second book in the series quickly followed, Please Hug My—I’m an Office Monkey: The Only Guide You’ll Ever Need to Survive Life in a Cubicle, another area Michaels was intimately familiar with, filling his resume with endless jobs in an effort to support his artist lifestyle. Michaels hopes the heart felt humor coupled with advice derived from his own experiences help readers through the trying situations in their lives.

Michaels is currently working on his Christmas memoir, born of the need to create traditions for his son around a holiday he feels needs a lot of help to make meaningful again. He splits his time between San Francisco and his hometown of Boston, where he lives today with his wife and young son. Michaels is an adequate chess player who rarely learns from his mistakes and claims to be a level 10 Sudoku player (even though no such rankings exist).
